CHAPTER V: The Mission Compendium
In this chapter:
-Battle types
-Battle submission forms
-Ratings system
The Mission Compendium holds the complete listing of all the official battles and free missions for the different subgroups. The vast majority of battles and missions have been designed for the TIE Corps, but any Subgroup may use them. In addition, there are many battles that have been created for specific Subgroups.
5.1 Battle types:
To make the EH Mission Compendium clearer and user friendly it has been separated into categories. Each category is called a battletype and represents each platform linked to subgroup or special battle like FCHG/CAB.
Each battletype has its own requirements and each member of Emperor’s Hammer may submit a battle for any battletype. Some battletypes are reserved only for special competitions (i.e. FCHG battles).
5.2 Battle submission forms:
Battle submission form is an automated, database based system to process pilot files submitted by pilots into database, and high scores.
All Squadron Commanders or higher can log-in to the TIE Corps Database and submit Battle Submission Forms (BSFs) for any of their pilots that have completed a battle and sent their pilot file to them.
Officers holding the position of Squadron Commander or higher can select the 'Battle Submission Form' option available on the Administration screen, or they can choose the easier method of doing a personnel search, finding their pilot and choose to send a BSF from that pilot's profile. This method eliminates having to search through all of the pilots in the TIE Corps to find the one that you are looking for.
Listed below is the hierarchy which all pilots should adhere to for deciding who to send their pilot files to:
TIE Corps
FMs and FLs ----> Squadron Commander (CMDR)
CMDRs ----> Wing Commander (WC)
WCs ----> Commodore (COM)
COMs ----> Battle-Group Commander (BGCOM)
BGCOMs ----> Flight Officer (FO or CA:FO)
COs and CAs ----> Tactical Office (CA:TAC)
Please note that the COM of the SSSD Sovereign is considered a BGCOM in this situation, and should therefore send all of his/her pilot files to the Flight Officer.
If you have sent in your pilot file and nothing happens for several days, don't panic! Your superior officer could be on leave or having a hardware problem or there could be a problem with the tiecorps.org server. The best thing to do is contact your superior officer and ask him if he received your pilot files. Sometimes they can get lost in e-mails or forgotten under large "to-do" piles. If your superior officer does not respond, you should follow up the chain of command.
5.2.1 Reviewing pilot files
For reviewing pilot files You have two options available. You can download a pilot viewer from the Utilities section, or you can load up the pilot file in the game it was designed for and write down the scores.
Any pilot files that have other missions played on it other than the battle or free mission the pilot file was for is automatically disqualified and cannot be submitted for credit!
5.2.2 High Scores
High Scores serve a special function in the Emperor's Hammer. The Battle Board is a complete listing of the best scores for every mission that has been flown in the Mission Compendium (and who has achieved it), as well as calculating the Battle High Score. These Scores serve an integral part in the competitive spirit that helps the TIE Corps flourish and also play a major role in the Fleet Commander's Honor Guard (FCHG) system.
High Scores provide an incentive to pilots to fly their best in addition to flying often. High Scores can increase a pilot's FCHG score exponentially, especially if they get all of the High Scores on a battle. To read more about scoring, see the Scoring/Battle Submission Forms section.
The Battle Board is released monthly in Emperor's Hammer Newsletters.
5.2.3 Scoring exceptions
In any scoring system there are scoring exceptions allied to the rules. It is not different in the EH’s rules. Exceptions have been created to address special circumstances pilots may encounter while using official EH games.
5.2.3.1 Tie Fighter
If a pilot played the battle in the Combat Chamber, you must enter "0" for all scores (including laser and missile hits/shots).
If a pilot has informed you that he skipped a mission in a battle because of a bug, you must enter "0" for all scores (including laser and missile hits/shots for TIE Fighter missions) when filling out a Battle Submission Form. If the pilot skipped more than one mission or the battle in question is a Free Mission, the pilot file is invalid.
5.2.3.2 X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter
Pilots must use the original included .LST files with the battles. If a pilot uses a custom made .LST file that prevents you from viewing individual scores, the pilot file is invalid. Do not use the "total score" for recording a free mission score. Missions should be available from the training missions.
5.2.3.3 X-Wing Alliance
If a pilot has informed you that he skipped a mission in a battle because of a bug, you must enter "0" for all scores when filling out a Battle Submission Form. If the pilot skipped more than one mission or the battle in question is a Free Mission, the pilot file is invalid.
5.2.4 Laserless scoring
A system has been implemented in the TIE Corps Database where laser shots do not count towards your total score (therefore it is a waste of time spending hours to try and get more points through shooting your lasers). Whenever a BSF is filled out for a TIE Fighter Battle or Free Mission, the officer submitting the BSF will be requested to supply information pertaining to the amount of lasers fired/hit and warheads launched/hit.
This 'Laser-Less Scoring' only applies to TIE Fighter battles. You will not be requested to supply this information for XvT or XWA missions, only the mission scores.
Laser-Less Formula:
Final Score = Overall Score - (Laser hits x 3)
5.2.5 X-Wing Alliance bonus scoring
In XWA Missions it is highly likely that bonus points will be awarded in the midst of flying them. These points should be included in the mission scores, as they are similar to the Secondary and Bonus goals in TIE Fighter.
Please note that there is a bug in an old XWA Pilot Viewer 3000 version. This bug will multiply the bonus score by 10, which can have an enormous effect on scores, and land you in a heap of trouble if you submit scores with false amounts.
ALL CMDRs and other officers filling out BSFs for XWA Battles and/or Free Missions are urged to get the updated XWA Pilot Viewer 3000 under the Utilities section and to take extra care when submitting these BSFs.
5.2.6 Audits
While the TIE Corps database system automatically approves all BSFs that do not contain any High Scores, audits do occur at random (though they occur more often in BSFs with High Scores).
Simply reply quickly to the audit, supplying the pilot file that you used to fill out the BSF. For this reason you should always keep any pilot files that you use until they have been approved and are on your pilot's record. Even then, many CMDRs like to save them in case they are ever needed again. The faster you reply to the Audit the more quickly your BSF will be approved (with the exception of pilot files that look suspicious, in which case you will be further notified). You have one week to comply or the BSF will automatically be denied.
BSFs can be filled automatically by uploading the pilot files into the database. It is HIGHLY recommended to use this feature, as the Tactical Office will directly have the pilot file if an audit occurs.
5.3 Rating System:
The TIE Corps Database has a Rating System where pilots can rate battles they have played. This is not required but it is encouraged for pilots to rate battles that they fly. It lets designers know what kinds of missions people like to fly and what particular things about a battle people liked the most or the least, for consideration with future battle designs.
To review and rate a battle, choose the battle that you would like to rate on the Mission Compendium, and click 'Submit Review'. If you are not logged into the database, you will be prompted for a PIN # and password. You can give it a rating depending on how much you enjoyed the battle. '5' is the best, and is usually reserved for the best battles/free missions with an original and intriguing storyline and no bugs. Battles with a '0' rating usually signify that something is very wrong with it: either it is a poor storyline or there are bugs rampant throughout the battle.
You can also post your comments on the battle where everyone can see them or choose to rate it anonymously. Comments are optional and should be kept to a reasonable length. Comments are not the place to submit a bug report! See the section on Bug Reports about how to properly report bugs in battles. Comments that are off-topic, contain swearing or spamming, or make personal attacks on the battle designer will be deleted and the author may lose the privilege to post future reviews on the Battle Center.
Pilots must use their discretion to give each battle its own rating. The reviewer can change ratings at any time.
